This is all good advice, but I will give you some from my experience if you decide you do want to take Africa for yourself.įirst things first, get a royal marriage and an alliance with Castille (you should start with a mission for one, and immediately get a mission for the other once you complete the first). You want to expand into the new world and stay away from europe trouble, so dont try to beat marocco yet. You dont need to do missions, especially ones go against your goals. I also dominate my tradethingy with light ships, giving me good money to keep colonies and buy buildings. Right now i am the only one that has the range to make colonies in america and at home i am allied with castille, which is getting quite big thanks to a few won wars that i helped them with. I also sold my province in africa because it was just making rebel trouble. Right now i extended my colonial range and getting a foothold into south america, carribean has been explored, but is out of range until i gain some colonies and cores on the continent. You can start making colonies as soon as you get a colonist, you wont need "quest for new world" right away.

Rush the colonization stuff, you have free explorers, so use them. I even gained some ships from this for free. They will have some wars, but especially against africa you can just keep the water clear of enemy ships and you wont be touched at all. A good idea is also to go to Central America and engage the Aztecs, First time around you should make peace for money only, its usually alot of ducats and u get no overext.Īt the start i instantly desolved my alliance with england because i really dont want to fight france. U also get to easily annex Kongo if u get a Core on a colony in Luanda for example.Īs long as u keep Spain in check on the mainland, u can easily grab the best colonies in South America and Africa. Also, u can look into colonizing stuff in Africa, i prefer to go after the Angola region zone because theres less agro and ur further away from the first places where spain and france will try to colonize, in the gold/ivory coast. Brasil is better to colonize imo, because the natives are very harmless.
Colonize Cape Verde, and from here it will be wuite easy to discover Brasil. Get colonization idea asap, and use ur start explorers and boats to discover the Cape Verde Isles. meanwhile try to ally spain or atleast have good relations to make sure they dont try funny stuff on you when u start looking into brasil or africa colonies.if u lose britain alliance in the process, no big deal, as if u are in the 1400's they will pull you into endless wars with france and others where they will almsot always lose. So, Paradox have done it again – learning from the design of Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis is an excellent starting foundation.First make sure you overpower Spain in the Sevilla Market, boats help alot with this.
It’s a polished, almost terrifyingly vast title that gets its hooks in you the moment you click on that first country, and simply refuses to let go. Europa Universalis IV is the defining game in the genre, laying out the whole world in front of players and just letting them have at it. Paradox Development Studio has shown that it understands grand strategy like no other studio.
